What is a NPS Vatsalya Calculator?

NPS Vatsalya is a version of the National Pension System for children under 18. A parent or guardian opens and runs the account with a minimum contribution of ₹1,000 a year, and the money is invested in the same pension funds as regular NPS.

When the child turns 18, the account can continue as a regular NPS account after fresh KYC, or the child can exit under the rules in force. Under guidelines announced in January 2026, a corpus below ₹8 lakh can be withdrawn fully, while a larger corpus allows up to 80% as a lump sum with at least 20% used for an annuity. This NPS Vatsalya calculator projects the corpus and shows which rule applies.

How does the NPS Vatsalya Calculator work?

The calculator adds the yearly contribution at the start of each year and grows the balance at the expected return until the child turns 18. It then grows that corpus, with no further contributions, to age 60 at the second return rate you choose.

Corpus18 = Σ C × (1 + r)kC is the yearly contribution and k the years each contribution stays invested. Corpus60 = Corpus18 × (1 + r2)42.

How to use the NPS Vatsalya Calculator step by step

  2. Enter the yearly contribution (at least ₹1,000).
  3. Set the expected return until 18.
  4. Set the return from 18 to 60 if the account stays invested.
  5. Read the corpus at 18 and the exit rule.
  6. Check the age-by-age table.
