This gold loan calculator estimates how much you can borrow against your gold jewellery and what the loan will cost. Enter the weight, purity and today’s gold rate. It values the gold, applies the loan-to-value limits in RBI’s directions that apply from April 2026, and shows the interest for an EMI loan or a bullet loan where you repay everything at the end.

Please note: results are estimates for planning and learning. They are not investment, tax or legal advice. Returns on market-linked products are not guaranteed, and rates set by the government or your bank can change. Check the latest figures with the official source or a SEBI-registered adviser before you decide.

What is a Gold Loan Calculator?

A gold loan is a secured loan against gold jewellery or coins. The lender keeps your gold safely, lends a percentage of its value, and returns the gold when you repay. Because it is secured, gold loans are approved quickly, often the same day, and usually cost less than personal loans.

The amount you get depends on the loan-to-value (LTV) ratio. RBI’s directions on lending against gold, which apply from 1 April 2026, allow up to 85% of the gold’s value for loans below ₹2.5 lakh, 80% for ₹2.5 lakh to ₹5 lakh and 75% above ₹5 lakh. This gold loan calculator applies those slabs and shows the cost of repaying by EMI or as a single bullet payment.

How does the Gold Loan Calculator work?

The calculator values your gold by multiplying the net weight by the 22-carat rate, adjusted for purity (for example, 18 carat is valued at 18/22 of the 22-carat rate). It then finds the largest loan that stays within the LTV slab that applies to that loan size.

For EMI repayment it uses the standard reducing-balance formula. For bullet repayment it calculates simple interest for the tenure, which you pay with the principal at the end.

Gold value = Weight × 22K rate × (Purity ÷ 22)Maximum loan = Gold value × LTV (85%, 80% or 75% by loan size). EMI = P × r × (1 + r)n ÷ [(1 + r)n − 1]. Bullet interest = P × rate × months ÷ 12.

How to use the Gold Loan Calculator step by step

  1. Enter the net weight of your gold, excluding stones.
  2. Choose the purity.
  3. Enter the 22-carat rate per gram from the lender or IBJA.
  4. Leave the loan amount at 0 to see the maximum, or enter what you need.
  5. Enter the interest rate, tenure and repayment type.
  6. Compare the EMI or bullet amount and total interest.

Gold Loan Calculator example with real numbers

You have 40 grams of 22-carat jewellery (net weight) and the lender’s rate is ₹11,000 a gram. You want the maximum loan for 12 months at 10% with monthly EMIs. (Use your lender’s rate on the day.)

Example inputValue
Gold weight (net, excluding stones)40 grams
Purity22 carat
Gold rate per gram (22 carat)₹11,000
Loan you want (optional)₹0
Interest rate per year10%
Tenure12 months
RepaymentMonthly EMI
Example outputValue
Maximum gold loan₹3,52,000
Value of your gold₹4,40,000
LTV used80.0%
LTV limit for this loan size80%
Monthly EMI₹30,946
Total interest₹19,357
Total repayment₹3,71,357

Your gold is valued at ₹4,40,000. Because the loan falls in the above-₹2.5 lakh band, the 80% limit applies, so the gold loan calculator gives a maximum of ₹3,52,000. The EMI is ₹30,946 and total interest ₹19,357.
